Who hasn’t sat around a campfire and watched how firelight changes the faces that surround the glowing embers? There is something so mysterious and lovely about the dancing flames and the charcoaled smoke as it rises into the evening sky. The flames - the light - transform ordinary logs of wood into a picturesque bonfire. As indigo ash whispers through the night air, we breathe in a new aroma, resigning ourselves to the blaze.

When we think about community, we often reflect upon the wonderful times we've shared by a fireside...a warm hearth in a friend's home, Christmas morning with precious family, or sweet sharing and song around a bonfire. Perhaps this vision most reminds us of our great cloud of witnesses; the inspiration behind this page. As we share our stories & photographs here, our hope is that we may renew, refresh, and rekindle our friendships by this fireside...

Leona!

It's true. We're getting another dog :) Huskies are sort of like potato chips...one is never enough! Though, I think we'll stop at two! The breeder we got Emma from is so very kind and is sending us ANOTHER puppy because of Emma's crossed-eyes! (www.galenacreek.com) Of course, she is perfect to us, but one reason we got her from a breeder was because she was "hip and eye certified" ...and you can see clearly (er, more clearly than Em) that she is super cross-eyed. We got a call this weekend sharing the good news: she is 6 weeks now and we can get her in two weeks (end of Oct)! We're going to name her Leona...yes, Leona. Mostly, we wanted to stay within the "old fashioned girls name" category (i.e. Emma) and Leona just made us smile :) Here are some pictures the breeder sent us:
