By The Fireside

Who hasn’t sat around a campfire and watched how firelight changes the faces that surround the glowing embers? There is something so mysterious and lovely about the dancing flames and the charcoaled smoke as it rises into the evening sky. The flames - the light - transform ordinary logs of wood into a picturesque bonfire. As indigo ash whispers through the night air, we breathe in a new aroma, resigning ourselves to the blaze.

When we think about community, we often reflect upon the wonderful times we've shared by a fireside...a warm hearth in a friend's home, Christmas morning with precious family, or sweet sharing and song around a bonfire. Perhaps this vision most reminds us of our great cloud of witnesses; the inspiration behind this page. As we share our stories & photographs here, our hope is that we may renew, refresh, and rekindle our friendships by this fireside...

Bringing Home Emma!

Well, it's been a month since I've updated this blog, and it's going to be brief, but we've been out of town for a while! We spent two weeks with Kenny's family (mine now, too!) in Coos Bay, Oregon...photos to come soon! The first 5 days our friends Bethany and Brian Engl joined us for the ride...we have so much fun together and hope to be annual travel companions :) I'll update more on the trip later with visual aids!

The most exciting part of the trip for me was getting to pick up our beautiful, precious husky pup...Emma! She was 8 weeks old when we brought her home, and today, she is 12 weeks! We love everything about her...okay, so not the house-traning and chewing...but other than that...she's perfect! ;) Now we have a dog-child, our family is complete for the foreseeable future, we're getting less sleep, and loving life! Here are some pictures of our Emma girl (ie. our little pumpkin spice latte ;) )
